Simone Wilson is a self-taught artist born in Atlanta, GA.
An obsessive scavenger, she began producing functional
and aesthetic assemblages out of junk in 1991.
Simone moved to Athens, Ga. in 1992 where she met artist
Beecher Hickey. Together they began building furniture
using recycled wood and other objects and embellishing
them with trompe-loeil paintings which ended up being
commissioned in Atlanta and the southeast for the next
8 years. Bill passed away in 2002 and continues to
inspire her to this day. Today Simone creates two
and three dimensional works, she paints, builds,
scavenges, gardens and lives in Asheville, NC with her
family and best friend Louise, her basset Hound.
